The following tables provide descriptions of common mechanical insulation materials. This information is primarily based on the Thermal Insulation Association of Canada Mechanical Insulation Best Practices Guide [24], the text Introduction to Heat Transfer [25], and discussions with an expert reviewer [26]. Some additional information sources were used in specific sections as noted.
